Definitely worth reading

This book provides the reader with a method and (!) the tools for analysing cash flow statements. Its clear and concise language as well as the discussion of very basic and fundamental tenets of the "doing business" throughout (and the complete lack of footnotes or references) should not deceive the reader. This is neither a quick read nor a superficial or simplistic treatment of the subject. Very much to the contrary: You can actually acquire real analytical skills through the study of "Cash Flow Analysis and Forecasting" and apply them in the real world. This is the main feature and main contribution of Timothy Jury's treatise and makes it very valuable. It will enable you to better understand (at least a significant part of) "the background story" of a company's actual and historical cash flows. Unlike some other treatises, "Cash Flow Analysis and Forecasting" is NOT a collection of (at best: instructive) anecdotes or "warning signs" regarding the analysis of financial statements. This makes it a quite unique contribution to the field. And so it does not come as a surprise that the author has also devised a unique approach of teaching the subject. I have run seminars on "Financial Covenants" in the past five years (no connection with the author or his firm by the way) and against the backdrop of my experience I would submit that the author must have spent considerable time and thought in creating his novel approach. Why ? Because it looks so simple and is so effective at the same time. Read his treatise twice (at least). It is worth it.

This is one of the two best books on cash flow analysis I've seen, alongside Creative Cash Flow Reporting: Uncovering Sustainable Financial Performance. It is well-written, clear and covers all stages of business. An excellent book. Recommended!

A good book to better understand cash flow statements for all kinds of analysts. The centrepiece of the book is a reclassification of the cash flow statement to make it more comparable across firms. The book deals with difference between international and US accounting standards. The reading isn't exactly fun, but conveys important knowledge. The book has many examples. maybe too many.

The book also discusses the cash flow aspects of a company's life cycle. Here, I feel that the author is actually trying to find filler material. It gets a bit repetitive. In general, the weakest part of the book is the implications and usage of the restated cash flow statement. The author is basically taking the perspective of a creditor. I would have liked more on using the information for competitive analysis and investment decisions. A chapter on fraud detection (practical evidence of warning flags) would also have been much appreciated. It would also have been good to tie in to the academic literature. I am sure there exist studies how companies cash flow has changed and developed. Such more descriptive material would have been very interesting.

Another good book is Mulford's Creative Cash Flow Reporting: Uncovering Sustainable Financial Performance. Despite its title it is a general book on cash flow statements. It provides more detail on each item. The style is much more meandering and there are very few conclusions. Very surprisingly, there is hardly anything on fraudulent usage. If I just want one book on cash flow I would pick Jury's book, but Mulford's book is a good second reading.

About the Author
Cherise Kelley writes family-friendly fiction from the dog's point of view! She grew up in a family of teachers. Her father taught high-school history. Her mother teaches new parents about the special needs of their premature infants. Her sister, Kristine Morris White, is a grand-prix level dressage horse trainer. Mrs. Kelley became a teacher herself in 1991, two years after earning her bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley. She has taught English at the college, high school, and middle school level but prefers to substitute teach so that she has time for her writing.

“Dog Aliens 3: She Wolf Neya” by Cherise Kelley provides a very satisfying conclusion to the Dog Aliens trilogy by this author. Raffles continues holding telepathic discourse with the young she-wolf, Neya, whom he met at the end of the previous episode, inadvertently leading Neya to think she was falling in love him. In her misguided efforts to make Raffles return her affection, Neya tries to make Raffles jealous of other male canids, including another alien dog and a lone wolf. But Raffles knows this is only puppy-love, no pun intended, and urges Neya to pursue the lone wolf, Cholf.

Neya’s actions endanger her pack and her own life, as she places herself in some precarious positions. Unbeknownst to any of the Kaxians or the wolves, a dastardly Nique has been assigned the task of killing Neya, in the hope that Raffles will become distracted by his sadness at the loss of her friendship, and thereby cease to be such a threat to the Niques as they continue high-jacking shipments of jex bound for Kax.

If none of that makes sense to you, you need to start with episode 1, “Dog Aliens 1: Raffle’s Name”, move on to episode 2, “Dog Aliens 2: Oreo”, and even the accompanying short story, “Dog Aliens Kaxian Duty”, before tackling “Dog Aliens 3: She Wolf Neya”. The entire series is highly entertaining for young and old, and I recommend it to all readers who enjoy a little fun, light reading once in a while.

Will there be a “Dog Aliens 4” in the future? Kelley does a superb job of leaving open that option, while satisfactorily concluding the series with this volume. Either way, I encourage folks to start at the beginning. You will learn a lot about the dogs in your life! Being the caretaker for both a Kaxian and a Nique, I can attest to the accuracy of Kelley’s assertions about each type. Read the series; you will enjoy it.

I just loved She Wolf Neya !

I loved this book as much as I did the others. I get one & can't stop reading till I've finished the book. Ms. Kelley makes you feel like your there feeling what they feel, doing what they do, smelling what they smell. It's wonderful to hear how they communicate with each other with their bodies.
I loved how Raffles could "talk" to one or all when ever he wanted or had to talk to them. I laughed sooo hard when "The Big Dogs" found out how the "The Little Dogs" were able to get so much speed & then learned how to stop them from getting so much speed. But, of course you have to read the book to get the answers to these things.
It was so touching how her to be mate courted her & if they got together, if they found a den & if they were able to raise a family.
I'm sure once you have read just one of her books you will want to read them all.

About the Author
GESHE MICHAEL ROACH is a fully ordained Buddhist monk and has been a teacher of Buddhism since 1981. He is also a scholar of Sanskrit, Tibetan, and Russian, and has translated many works in these languages into English. Annoying way to teach the essence of yoga

As a story, it was very mediocre. Characters style of speech is repetitive and the historical inaccuracy is hard to overlook. I appreciate the book for recasts the Patanjali's yoga sutras in a novel, however I found myself bored while reading this terrible writing.

Don't be fooled by the title.

The title of the book would suggest a "how to" book which it is not. It is actually a novel about a young girl in the 1100 A.D. who has become a yoga master. Very unusual for the time. When travelling from her training to her next destination she is arrested for having a valuable copy of the Yoga Sutras with her which the authorities assume is stolen. (After all she is a girl and quite young!) The story unfolds while she is imprisoned for the next several months. I loved the story line as it teaches us "how yoga works."
I highly recommend it to anyone interested in yoga and how to incorporate it into everyday life.

You will not put this book down....

I just finished my first reading of this wonderful book. I say "first", because I will immediately begin again my second reading to further reflect on the words written. I was a little unsure when I was told to read this book because of the title. This book is not about the poses, it is about life, about the heart, about how your words, thoughts and actions affect everyone and everything. Yes, I know that sounds a little mushy, but the truths in these chapters will have you thinking and doing as soon as the book is closed. I will never think of "SEEDS" in the same way ever again. I never expected to enjoy this book as I did. You will laugh, cry and wish for more when it ends (the very reason I'm on to reading #2). Wow, powerful in every way imaginable. Thank you, dear authors, for writing such an easy to read and understand book of these teachings. My journey continues.

A Perfect Read for Highly Sensitive Children

Oliver is highly sensitive and finds busy places, noise and the unpredictability of other children unsettling. He'd rather play alone in his room. Until he meets Odile, a girl who moves in next door. They are chalk and cheese. And complement each other perfectly. Odile gives Oliver the confidence to go outside his comfort zone and do things he wouldn't usually do. In time, this highly sensitive boy stretches his boundaries without changing the essence of who he is - in his own time and with the support of those who love him.

I'm the mother of three highly sensitive children and can relate to this story immensely. Highly sensitive children need to learn that things are safe, fun and okay to do in their own time - with someone they trust holding their hand. When they have that support they blossom. Like Oliver!

The story is beautiful, the illustrations are breathtakingly gorgeous - and in contrast to so many other children's books the pictures and colours in All Too Much for Oliver are very calming. I look forward to more books from My Quiet Adventures!

This book has such a sweet and subtle message.

I adore the mother's relationship with Oliver; she allows her son to perceive the world in his own way and accepts his perceptions without judgement. This parent-child relationship is vital, particularly for children who relate to the world in a more intimate way. The same applies to Oliver's friendship with Odile. Their friendship exemplifies how acceptance among children (and parents) can facilitate a child's desire and willingness to relate to the world in new ways. I love that the message of acceptance in this book is subtle and entices the reader to take another look at the relationships that develop within it.

Beautiful images, terrible book design.

Henrik Purienne's images are really easy to enjoy. Beautiful girls who all look like they've spent the day relaxing at the beach in various states of dress (or undress). Most of the photographs appear to be reproduced from recent issues of Mirage magazine, which Purienne is the creator of, or American Apparel campaigns that he shoots. Some of his best work from his archive (that I've seen on his website over the years) are missing and that's kind of disappointing. But my biggest issue with the book, which is bad enough that I would reduce 2-stars from my rating is that many of the layouts in the book are of vertical images printed as a two-page spread. So in a few cases, there's a photo of a woman's face, but the book's gutter runs right through the center of her face. It's not very good looking and simply having a vertical image laid out "sideways" so the book must be turned to view it is not a good decision. Another minor critique is that several pages are wasted on filler images that do not add anything to Purienne's purpose as a photographer. For instance, I don't think anyone who is a fan of Purienne's work is remotely interested in seeing a 2-page spread of an inflatable raft or a full page image of flamingos.
